Listed building
Late C17 stone house, rendered and with ashlar dressings. … There is a medieval octagonal stone pier in the cellar (probably from earlier building on the site) supporting stopped chamfer ceiling beam.
The estate at Eye was supposed to have been given to Peterborough in 686 AD.
By 1125 AD there were 13 tenants and two cowherds on some 180 acres. By 1300 AD therewere over 400 acreas and a further 19 tenants. In 1307 the estate sent to the cell at Oxney, 13 stone of cheese annually, and a quarter of a stone of butter and 2 gallons of milk per week during the summer.
In the 14th century a Deer Park was created, fish ponds, a walled garden and orchards and a great stone barn or grange.
Little trace of the monastic grange is visible with the exception of a single medieval octagonal stone pillar. Traces of a moat survive.
