Southorpe (Hospital and Grange)

History of Hospital and Grange of Peterborough Abbey

In 1291 a small hospital belonging to Peterborough Abbey was mentioned here. It was too poor to be taxed and by 14th cent. had ceased to be a hospital. It was given to the Bishop in 1577.

There survives a complex series of earthworks and a number of fishponds.
