Alec

Donald worked for the Great Ouse River Board. During the war he had worked in Government irrigation projects in the Punjab. He had been brought up in Birkenhead and trained as an engineer at W H Allen in Bedford. Margaret met Donald at a Bunyan Meeting in Bedford. They married in 1941 before going out to India. (See Growing Up In Cambridge by Alec Forshaw (2009)).

Orcombe was the name given to the house by previous owners; it was built on the edge of Cambridge on former orchards.
