History of 162 Newmarket Road

At the rear of this property was Shamrock Passage. It is not listed on the 1841 census but is named on an 1840 map.  In 1850 an advert describes six freehold houses behind the Shamrock public house near Barnwell Old Church. The Shamrock PH is not mentioned in a census by name. Varying numbers of properties are listed in Shamrock Passage from 1851-1891.
