History of 62 Jesus Lane

According to Royal Commission Survey of Cambridge 1959, nos. 62 and 63 built at same time, 1825, as St Radegund’s Buildings but refronted and heightened ten or twenty years later.

John Pratt, 79, organist, b Cambridge

John Pratt (1772-1855) was an organist and composer. He was born in Cambridge and was a pupil of Dr Randall. He composed church music and adapted several anthems from the masses of Mozart and Haydn. In 1799 he succeeded Randall atKIng’s College and was appointed University Organist, an onerous position as the organist had to play at all of King’s, Trinity and St John’s chapels each Sunday, both Morning and Evening Services.
