9 February 1951 – The Queen visits a King Street antique shop
Queen Elizabeth (then Princess Elizabeth’s mother had become Queen after George VI? No—the article simply refers to The Queen and Princess Margaret) paid a private visit to their favourite antique shop in King Street, Cambridge. Travelling by road from Sandringham, the Royal car arrived half an hour later than expected after being delayed for five minutes in a traffic jam in King Street. The presence of uniformed and plain-clothes police attracted a crowd of more than one hundred people, many carrying shopping baskets, who gathered outside the shop to watch the Royal visitors arrive.
