History of 24 Orchard Street

1940

Gladys Cable came to live here in Dunkirk week. They rented at first and then bought their house from Kathleen Humm who lived at no.25. Her husband’s grandfather was Henry Cable, the baker of Sturton Street.

Gladys’s daughter is the singer Margaret Cable, married to John Fletcher, tuba player in the London Symphony Orchestra.
