Ram Yard (later Round Church Street) looking west

Ram Yard / Round Church Street

History 1 Ram Yard

Between 2019 and 2021 an area of c.900 square metres was excavated following the demolition of a multi-storey car park. The report can be found here:

https://www.camantsoc.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/PCAS2024_WebSummaries.pdf

Part of the King’s Ditch was revealed. More unexpected was a mid-late 3rd century skeleton with probable sharp force trauma, a 13th-15th century sword pommel, 16th century flower vase and early 17th century bone sundial.

Separating Round Church Street from the properties of Ram Yard presents problems so here information on both streets is presented.
