Ronald Robert Owen Payne of 19 Holland Street Cambridge died 21 September 1944 on war service. Probate 20 June to Caroline Elizabeth Payne (wife of Harold Payne).

UK Roll of Honour:

Ronald Robert Owen Payne: Private 5932755 1st Battalion, The Cambridgeshire Regiment, Suffolk Regiment who died was lost at sea on Thursday, 21st September 1944. Age 23. Son of Harold and Caroline Elizabeth Payne, of Cambridge. Commemorated on SINGAPORE MEMORIAL, Singapore. Column 60.

Ronald died when the Hofuku Maru carrying British and Dutch POWs was sunk by American planes on the way from Manila to Japan.
