Middleton Terrace, 157-167 Cherry Hinton Road, Cambridge

History of Middleton Terrace Cherry Hinton Road

Middleton Terrace is another of the first strips of artisan houses that were occupied by 1891.

We know from the 1891 census that the occupants were:

1.Mendham Atkin 39 joiner, Mary 40, Edith 15 dressmaker, Reginald 14, Winifred 13, Florence 7, Grace Cuttriss niece 3.

2. Robert Proctor 44 engine stoker, Ellen 40, Frank Watkinson lodger 2. The age of their lodger is surprising but Frank Cyril Watkinson was still living with Robert and Ellen in 1911 age 20 in Kent according to the 1911 census.

3. George Buttress 23 gardener, Agnes 22, Ella 2, George 1m.

4. Matthew Hibbert 40 coachman, Charlotte 46.

5. Thomas Dale 24 railway clearing house clerk, Ruth 26, Thomas 2mos.

6. Robert Hoyde 30 carpenter, Emma 23.
