Round House, Little Thetford
History of the Round House
Vanishing Cambridgeshire p.175 notes that the origins of this building are uncertain. It was two three-storey cottages until 1959 and then stood empty. By 1980 it had been turned into one dwelling.
The note on this photo above says that the Round House was built in the 15th century as a lookout tower, later converted into two cottages, and last occupied in 1959. (MoC364/75)
“The People’s Ford”, Pat and Mike Petty, notes that the walls are not upright and seem to indicate that it was once a windmill.
