History of Bridge Road
Mepal Vignettes (2005) records reminiscences of Ernie Faux who in 1939 was living on Bridge Road. He had been born in 1911 and can be found in the census of that year in Mepal with his family.
He recalled the noise of a Zeppelin passing overhead while his parents were plucking chickens in a blacked out kitchen. After the war the family had Christmas parties at the Three Pickerels.
