History of 27 High Street

The blacksmith and farrier William Charles Rouse appears to have lived very near this location. In the 1901 census his residence is listed next to the George and Dragon pub which was at no. 25 High Street.

William Rouse arrived in Soham about 1842 and married Eliza Bullman, daughter of a bookseller in Pratt Street.
