Dorothy Sybil Rosalee Anker 1942 Telegram

This intriguing telegram seems to have been sent to Cambridge Station in 1942 where Dorothy (confirmed by family) was working as a bar attendant. The meaning of the phrase ‘DORON BAF’ is unknown.

According to IJW Dorothy would commute from March to Cambridge on Mondays, returning on Friday. She told neighbours that she worked in the cafe/bar at the station serving the troops. Her maiden name was Lyne and she married in 1942.

The England and Wales Civil Marriage Index records her husband’s surname in two places as ‘Auker,’ – James H Auker.
