Town Park, Wisbech

History of Town Park

Listed Building:

Memorial to Richard Young (b.1809, d.1871), greatest Wisbech ship owner. Erected 1872 and restored after gale damage 1883. Designed by J. Wallis Chapman of London.

Band stand c.1867. Hexagonal plan with raised dais and iron columns sporting tented, lead covered roof with shaped finial. Railings to enclosure.

Grazing rights on Town Park were let to farmers.
