1914

Walter and Annie Lowings

In 1914 the Lowings family became a national symbol of patriotism and duty after all eight sons enlisted, together with two sons-in-law. Their story appeared in newspapers, and they received a letter from Buckingham Palace praising their “patriotic spirit”.
