[In 1906 Clement travelled to the USA on board the ‘Philadelphia’. In 1913 he completed his intention of naturalization in which he stated he was a seaman, height 5ft 11 ins, weight 152 lbs, born in Cambridge and now living at 424 Mott Ave New York. The form is pre-printed to say that the applicant is ‘not an anarchist; I am not a polygamist nor a believer in the practice of polygamy. In 1920 he was given awards in respect of his service in the mercantile Marine in WWI]]
