Cambridge Chronicle 11 August 1899:
A Cats’ Home in Cambridge.
One of the problems with householders about to leave home for their annual holidays has been what arrangements can be made for the care of the household pet, the cat. We are therefore pleased to learn that a “Home” has been started in the town at which cats will be properly taken care of. This has been started by Mrs. Parr, 20, Covent Garden, Mill Road, who for the small fee of 1s. 6d. a week will undertake that pussy shall be made thoroughly happy and comfortable. We have evidence before us of Mrs. Parr’s success in the past, and from the statements made we can assure our readers that this is a “Home” in every sense of the word. The “Cats’ Home” in Cambridge is quite in its infancy at present, but it has had several inmates, and as the demand upon its space increases it is satisfactory to know that additional accommodation can be provided.
