105 – 107 Norfolk Street / 1 Gwydir Street, Prince of Wales

History of 105 - 107 Norfolk Street

1869:

CIP reported that Mr Scales had applied for a license for George Dant for a new indoor beerhouse at the corner of Norfolk Street and Gwydir Street. Two houses had been converted into one and Dant was about to occupy one of them. Rent was to be £12. However, as the rent was under £15 the license was refused.


1870: Prince of Wales

George Dant granted beer-house licence (CC&J 1.10.1870)

CCJ (17.9.1870) Meeting of the Cambridge Vaccination Committee, for the purpose of giving defaulting parents and opportunity to state their reasons for not complying with the act….. in the case of James Drake of Gwydir Street and Herbert Teeks of Bateman Street, both children had been vaccinated and certificates sent – in the latter instance to the wrong registrar.

1962: not listed. After WWII the house was demolished to make way for an electricity sub station. Then, the substation was removed and another house built.
