Listed Building
Farmhouse now a house. Possibly late medieval, rebuilt late C16 and early C17 with C18, C19 and C20 alterations and additions, part refaced in brick in 1902. Timber-framed and plastered, painted brick. … The farmhouse is sited where the Templars’ manor house and grange buildings were also sited in the C14 within a rectangular moat.
The preceptory of the Knights Templars was probably founded during the second quarter of the 13th century with an endowment of c.250 acres and the income from a mill. When the Order was dissolved in 1308 there was only one brother in residence and about 15 other dependents. The site was marked by a moat until the early 1970s
