Orchard House was built in the 18th cent.
Late 19th cent. Mrs Stevenson let rooms at the house and gave meals on the front lawn to students.
1897 some students asked for tea in the Orchard. This became very popular and a wooden Tea Pavilion was built around 1900.
1909 Rupert Brooke came to lodge. Friends came to visit him such as E M Forster and Edward Thomas. After 18 months here, Brooke moved next door to the Old Vicarage.
