13 Church Street, The Grange (Corney Hall), Great Shelford

History of 13 Church Street, Great Shelford

Listed building:

Manor house, C16, C17, and much remodelled and altered in late C19 in vernacular revival style probably for the Carter-Jonas family. The timber frame has almost completely been obscured by late C19 rough-cast and red brick.

Peter Grain died at The Grange. His nephew was Corney Grain, actor and entertainer.

Carter Jonas was related to Jonas Webb, agriculturalist, whose statue is in the Corn Exchange. He bought the house from Peter Grain.
