47 Cambridge Road, Impington

History of 47 Cambridge Road, Impington

According to the Histon and Impington Village Society website this was the site of a beautiful old mansion that last belonged to a Mr Lamb. It was sold in 1972 and pulled down by developers.


JW sent this note in 2025:

I always understood that it [the house] was owned by Chivers and Mr Lamb was something ‘high up’ in the company. I can’t corroborate that but that’s what my Grandmother told me. She was friends with Consie who is named on the card. I have a photograph of her if you would like to have it to add to the record.

The card is just smaller than A5 in size and is printed on thick card.
I have also found out that Sidney Charles Lamb’s wife was called Alice. They had a son (Dennis Charles Lamb), who was killed in an aircraft accident:
