So named by Miss E C Cross who bought it from William Gall in 1898; she let the cottage several times…… she was educated at Newnham College, Cambridge, and was a Teacher at Baltimore University in the States. Edward Whybro, the carpenter, built this cottage and was the first person to live in it…. Subsequently Mrs Webb the tailor’s wife, lived there until the cottage was pulled down in 1905.
