High Street, Little Shelford drawn by Fanny Wale

Ellum’s Cottage, 13 High Street, Little Shelford

History of Ellum's Cottage

Ellum’s cottage is the building in the background, second from the left in Fanny Wale’s drawing.

Fanny wrote about it c.1908:

Behind these premises [Butler’s house] is a thatched cottage belonging to the Wale property inhabited by Mr and Mrs William Ellum (née Gillingham). There is a good garden with a hedge round …. The Ellum family is one of the oldest of Shelford Parva and connected with many others.
