Prince Regent, Church Street, Little Shelford c.1910Fanny Wale includes this picture in ‘Shelford Parva’ when she describes the features of the cross roads where the High Street meets Church Street, Garden Fields and the Hauxton Road.
There was a pump at these crossroads put there in 1908 [sic] the commemorate the First Jubilee of Queen Victoria. The well was bored down 60 feet.
At the time Fanny Wale was writing the pub was owned by Whitmore, a Royston brewer. It was managed by Mrs Lewin and her husband, a jobbing gardener.
