History of the Windmill

Listed Building

Tower windmill, now a house, c1820. Brick, rendered. Three storeys with a restored ogee cap. The sails and fantail have been removed and the openings are C20 but the machinery in the cap is still intact.

The windmill was built after the water table dropped following the increase in drainage of the surrounding land in the 19th century which affected the flow of water to the watermill.

A black-and-white windmill with a tiled-roof building stands beyond a ploughed field, framed by trees against a cloudy sky.
