Listed building

Smock mill. Circa 1805. Gault brick octagonal base with tapering octagonal timber-frame walls partly weatherboarded and covered with metal sheets and tarred.

Herbert Godfrey Ilett was born  in Brook End cottages  in 1914. He describes his life and the community in detail in “A Villager’s Life” (1993). He spent much of his working life at this mill.

He started work here is 1933 earning £2 2s a week plus 9d an overtime. he drove a 2 ton Morris Commercial. the Saunderson family were Plymouth Brethren.
