The Clark family had previously lived at 4 Wilton Terrace, Station Road, and before that, after their marriage at 1 St Minver Terrace Bateman Street.

Hazlewood was Joseph Clark’s mother, Ann Hazlewood’s, maiden name.

In 1908 the Foreign and Overseas Mission group from St John’s Church met here.

In 1908 Arthur married Florence Hobbs and moved to 31 Chesterton Hall Crescent.

1935

In 2025 JJ sent this note:

My father, Donald Johnson lived at this address in 1935 according to his aviation certificate. He became a trainer of Spitfire pilots during the war. Donald at this time was married to Betty Heywood of Hills road and possibly this was her house then. Betty was one of 4 daughters of a local dairy farmer in Hills Road.

Betty Johnson (later married name Carraher), b 1917

The Bentleys and the Johnsons were sharing the house at the time. Betty remarried in 1950.
