Mary A B Johnson (sometimes called Marion B Johnson in records), was the widow of boot closer William Johnson, from Norfolk. In 1881 the family lived at 7 Leaders Row, Cambridge and prior to that, in 1871, they lived at 160B East Road. Their eldest son was born in Westminster, London, and in the mid-1870s they returned to Haymarket near Piccadilly Circus, where their two younger sons were born.

In 1901, Louise and Edith were working as servants to the Matthews family at 180 Histon Road. Edith Johnson married James Hopkins in Virginia Water in 1907.

Luis and Ada had been married for three years and had one child. The Electoral Registers show that Luis (spelt Lewis in the Registers) had moved here from 147 Lower York Street.
