George shows up on the Register of East Road Boys School in 1884. Alice Maud was enrolled at East Road Girls’ School in October 1889; she had previously been at Sturton Street School.

This family had moved to 2 Stone Terrace on Stone Street by 1891, where they lived for at least 20 years. Later records clarify that George Baker senior came from Birling in Kent, and Jane came from Woolwich, also in Kent.
