In 2022 Cathy Douglas published “Pamela Mary Bryant: Memories of 65 Years in Sturton Street Cambridge” (ISBN 979-8-21-019910-2). Pamela had moved to 176 Sturton Street in 1957, a house already owned by her husband’s family, and had lived there until moving to Ely in April 2022. The book is a transcription of Cathy’s interviews with Pamela. [See 174 Sturton Street]

Hilda died in 1939. She had eaten some fish that was off and ended up in hospital. She was released, apparently well, but on the first night home became delirious and died from a haemorrhage having hit her head on a fender.

1956

Gerald H Bryant married Pamela May Batchelor. Pamela was the daughter of A Batchelor (her mother was born Coote) from Barrington. Her father worked at the Barrington cement works. Her parents had met at The Royal Oak pub in Barrington which was run by her aunt and uncle. Her first job was at the Co-op in Burleigh Street. She would go dancing on Saturdays at The Guildhall and The Dorothy.
