1911

Head of household in 1911 is Alfred James Squires, a 31 year old cement labourer who was born in Cambridge.  He can be found living with his parents and siblings at 66 Sturton Street on the 1891 and 1901 census records.

Alfred married Ellen Bertha Livermore in 1901.  On this census she is 30 and working as a charwoman.  The couple have four daughters.  Ethel Louisa (9), Violet May (7), Elsie Maud (5) and Lillian Alice (2).

Alfred was killed during the First World War whilst serving with the 22nd Battalion of the Manchester Regiment.  His service record shows that another daughter, Eva Joyce, was born in 1915.  Alfred is buried at Gommecourt British Cemetery No.2, Hebuterne.
