History of 14 - 16 Parker Street

Listed building:

Early 19th cent.

Emmanuel College bought these houses from Jesus College in 1979 and saved them from demolition. They were built in 1860.

No 14 was the home of head chef, Sidney Archer. His parents had moved there in 1925 and his mother, Grace, ran the house as a lodging house for undergraduates for 52 years.

No. 15 was a lodging house for Jesus College undergraduates for 22 years, run by Mr and Mrs Miller.
