1 Barrow Road, marker stone

1 Barrow Road

History of 1 Barrow Road

In 2023 the hedge alongside Trumpington Road was cut back. SM sent us a photo of what looks like an old marker stone, the arrow on the top pointing to Cambridge. It is suggested that the stone could be a half-mile-stone in the Warren series.

The OS map of 1884 shows this as a “M.S. [milestone] (Defaced).” On the OS map of 1903 it is described as “Old M.S.” (Note from SM 2024)
