Nine Wells, Great Shelford

Notes on Nine Wells

Nine Wells is the location of the spring on the edge of White Hill that feeds Hobson’s Conduit and is now  a managed nature reserve.

The stream which ran from the site is mentioned in the Domesday Book. A ‘stream (or weir) for 450 eels‘ is listed for the ‘Trumpingtone’ and there is no other stream that this could have been.

More information about the site can be found on Wikipedia.
