Gautrey farm, Beach Road, Cottenham

History of the Gautrey farm

Harry Gautrey grew strawberries on this site and discovered a new variety naming it after his daughter, Brenda. His varieties were known for their disease resistance. Local streets are named after other local strawberry varieties: John Paxton, Royal Sovereign and King Leopold.
