20 Denmark Road, Cottenham

History of 20 Denmark Road

1841

From Francis Garrett, Cottenham Ablaze:

15.7.1841: at about 5pm lightening struck a barn belonging to James Moore. His loss was about £70. John Cole the basketmaker and two others were working in the barn at the time; they were knocked unconscious. Most of what was lost was insured. A neighbour, Thomas Chapman, emptied his house out of caution.
