Papley Grove, Eltisley

Benedictine Nunnery

The benedictine nunnery was established on land belonging to the Manor of Papley and was probably built on this moated site. In the mid 13th century the Bishop of Ely confirmed the site of the ruined Chapel at Papley to ‘Lettice the nun and her sisters.’
