Fen Drayton Road, Swavesey

History of Fen Drayton Road

An archaeological excavation in this area was carried out in 2019. The report can be found here:

https://www.camantsoc.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/PCAS2024_WebSummaries.pdf

Some indications of late Iron Age / Romano-British settlement were found  but most finds related to the medieval period. The discussion in the report concludes that the importance of Swavesey in the medieval period was sufficient to classify it as a town.
