History of 32 Sidney Street

This is a location that was demolished to make way for Whewell Court in the early 1860s.

The Finch family had previously lived at the house which became the site of Mortlock’s bank at 14-16 Ben’e’t Street.

Charles Finch, also known as Charles Finch III was the son of Charles Finch II and Sarah née Smith. They ran the Finch ironworks until it was taken over by his nephew Swann Hurrell.
