St Nicholas Church, Great Yarmouth

History of St Nicholas Great Yarmouth

The largest of England’s parish churches, it was completely gutted by incendiary bombs in 1942. After initial first-aid repairs in 1953 to prevent the collapse of the tower total restoration was begun under a five year contract which was all but finished in three years. The architect was S E Dykes-Bower, the construction company Rattee and Kett.
