Mr A George recollected to Jessica Finch in 2001 (‘Bull’s Milk is Best’) life in Russell Street. His grandfather moved to no. 27 in 1923. Young Mr George would use a little cart to collect spent hops for the pigs that his grandfather and father kept. The hops came from the brewery of Bailey and Tebbutt on the site of the modern Russell Court.
