Church End, Cherry Hinton

History of Church End

2nd Lt Henry Herbert Brett Grain is recorded living in Church End at the end of WWI. He had previously lived with his family in Great Shelford where his father Arthur Iren Grain was an auctioneer and estate agent.

He was battalion transport officer in the Cambridgeshire Regiment and was awarded the Military Cross for his actions at Menin Road 22/11/1917.
