Helen (Eleanor) was the sister of Elizabeth Hinde. The service record of Elizabeth’s son, George Hinde, states that his personal property is to be sent to his mother at this address so we can assume that Elizabeth stayed with her sister for some time during WWI.
George Hinde, a fireman in the GNR, enlisted in February 1915 and was called up to the 6th Yorkshire and Lancaster Regiment in 1916. He was shot in the head on 12.10.1916 on the Somme. He was treated in hospital for three months. He died 27.2.1919 and was buried in Doncaster Cemetery.
