Hugh William Smith (1899-1976) of no.35 (formerly 23) Roseleigh, Gunner 159798 3rd Siege Artillery Reserve Brigade, Royal Garrison Artillery. A draper’s assistant, caught flu in 1918. His mother, Edith Mary Smith b.1875, wife of John b 1871, a joiner, volunteered for the Red Cross from 1915-1916.
