CIP 3.1.1885: Annoying the custodian of Parker’s Piece. Charles Firman, of Coronation-street, Geo. Watkins, of Gwydir-street. and Charles Rumbelow, of Union terrace, Mill-road, were summoned for wilfully interfering with, obstructing, and annoying Alfred Nunn, curator of Parker’s-piece, while be was in the discharge of his duties, on the 30th December.—The Town Clerk appeared to prosecute.—The defendants pleaded guilty. It appeared that on Tuesday afternoon the complainant was laying down turf on Parker’s Piece, when the defendants commenced playing football on the ground where he was at work. He requested them to move to another part of the piece, as there was plenty of room—no other game going on at the time. They refused to do so and continued playing to the annoyance of the complainant, who eventually took the ball away.—The bench fined Firman, who appeared to be the worst ot the three, 10s. and costs, and the other two defendants 5s. each and costs.—Watkins paid, and the other two defendants were allowed a fortnight each in which to pay the money.
