23 Telegraph Street, (Watson’s Lane) (Back Lane), Wesleyan Chapel

History of 23 Telegraph Street

1850

The Wesleyan Chapel was here, housed in a barn. An adjoining barn was used as a Church Mission Hall. During the 1850 fire there was a disagreement between members of the two congregations over the use of the available buckets. In the end the Mission Hall was saved and the Chapel fell to the flames.
