7 Drury Lane, Melbourn c1980s

7, Drury Lane, Thatchery Haze, Melbourn

History of 7 Drury Lane

Listed Building:

Cottage. c.1750 and late C20. Timber framed, rendered and long straw thatch, half hipped roof with grey brick single flue ridge stack of C19.

1983 – 1992

The Mayes family. The house was thatched by Mr Stanford who also lived in Drury Lane.

Myself and my parents lived here from 1983 for around 10 years..  The cottage was originally called Thatchery Haze I remember.  It was rethatched around 1986 by the local thatcher who lived just a few doors down.  He had previously thatched it once beforehand when he was young. I do have a few photos of the house if you would like them from that time.  My mum always suggested there were many ghostly happenings when we lived there.   (Email from DT 2023)
