Barnwell Station was opened in 1884 and closed completely in 1966. The station building is now a private residence.
It was not actually a junction station and only served the Mildenhall branch line.

Marie Clark recalls in ‘Memories of Abbey and East Barnwell’ p.9:
I can well remember the excitement when catching a train at Barnwell Junction to go for the day to Hunstanton. If the excursion train was not stopping at Barnwell we had to walk all the way to Cambridge Station.
